The “Undergound”
Individual experiences vary greatly when using the ” underground “, otherwise known as the Metro, tube, subway, BART, or MRT, depending where you are in the world. It is apparent in their faces, where and how they position themselves, in their overall behavior. The images in this portfolio attempt to capture that experience. What may be happening in those very private spaces one can only speculate on. It may be a state of sheer exhaustion following work or some other taxing experience. Or it may be a very personal expression of the weight on ones shoulders as they experience that time in their lives. The personal issues, concerns, and fantasies one can only imagine. But the existence of the experience is a very clear. This grouping of images portray what to many is a very essential part of their lives that may in many ways be convenient and necessary but at the same time draining, stressful, and somewhat intimidating. “Underground” is an opportunity to view and ponder what this experience is all about for the individuals seen and to reflect on your own personal experiences involving this form urban transit.
